Welcome to my blog about things to do in the OC; and, about trips to places near and far with my husband and the grandkids. I’m a retired CEO from the world of travel and tourism, and ready to share my thoughts, tips and travel experiences to help ‘mature audiences’ keep on traveling. It began with my grandparents and continues on through my grandchildren sharing a love for learning about the people and places on this big, beautiful planet. Traveling not only educates but fosters tolerance and promotes understanding of the world around us.
Over the past 25 years as a tourism professional, I've learned a lot about the OC and am looking forward to sharing that knowledge with others who may be experiencing it for the first time, or just looking to explore closer to home; so feel free to e-mail questions. As a long-time current Board member of the OCVA (Orange County Visitors Association), and past Board member of the Anaheim Visitors and Convention Bureau (now Visit Anaheim), and Visit Laguna Beach (Destination Specialists), I am inclined to divulge the many incredible ‘finds’ in the OC; both the well-known and the hidden gems. I’ve also been fortunate to have had the opportunity to travel extensively in my work, to visit family from India to Hong Kong and now to continue to ‘show the world’ to my family. An important part of my personal experience has been learning how to travel on a budget and how to find great offers online.
After being apart, and working for 40 years, my husband and I find that being retired and on the road is the best part of growing ‘young.’ When you decide to add the grandkids to the equation, and you’re 65+, traveling with children can be fun and challenging too. If you want them to take more than one trip with you, and if it’s a long trip, make sure you have a WiFi hotspot set up in the car, on the plane, in the RV or at your destination. A little bit of game time, a lot of love, and, education disguised as fun creates memories that will last their lifetime.
